Maybe I'm crazy, but 2006 was not the best year for great albums. I can only think of four records that really blew me away, so number 5 will go to the best concert I saw this year
Fav Records:
Sloan - Never Hear The End of It
Phoenix - It's Never Been Like That
Zazen Boys - III
Jenny Lewis - Rabbit Fur Coat
best concert: Polysics at the El Mocambo - seriously, if you like fun you owe it to yourself to see them.

A few of the records that I enjoyed listening to in 2006 were:
Honey from the Tombs - Amy Millan
Rather Ripped - Sonic Youth
I Am Not Afraid of You and I Will Beat Your Ass - Yo La Tengo
Roots and Crowns - Califone
Dears - Gang of Losers
Eraser - Thom Yorke
Audion - Suckfish
Ellen Allien & Apparat - Orchestra of Bubbles
There were others, but that's all I can think of off the top of my head.
