I'm studying Radio and Television amongst a student population of more women than men, but in the audio stream, the ratio is reversed. Why is this? Certainly one reason is that there are few female role models in the industry. I look up to producers like Dave Fridmann and Nigel Godrich, but can't think of any female producers of that stature. As for the root causes of this problem, I can't say for sure, but it certainly is a problem. Why is our industry so behind the times in this regard? Most importantly, what can be done about it?]]>

He goes on to state that the reason that piracy is so common is not simply that people don't want to pay for music, but rather that they want to have control over the music they pay for. The result of which, he claims, was poor sales.
There are some services, he writes, that offer digital music sales without copy control measures, but the major labels have not signed on to these services.

Pop Journalism posts their review on October 22nd stating, “The Salads have a knack for writing some catchy melodies, but on The Big Picture, they may have alienated old fans just to adhere to rock radio standards and generic-sounding tracks.”
