Our facility is rooted with 25 years of history and industry leadership, turning us into the multi-million dollar studio we are today.  We provide an atmosphere of comfort and professionalism as a Toronto based recording studio.  Cherry Beach Sound fosters creativity and celebrates diversity.

I An Eye

Richard G. Benoit recently finished tracking the new offering from Toronto based artist "I An Eye". The sessions were produced by Mitch "King Kong" Girio and assisted by Alex Bonenfant.

Stacie McGregor

Stacie laid down new material for an upcoming release with the accompaniment of New York based jazz veterans Curtis Lundy (Roy Hargrove, Dave Holland), Billy Hart (Stan Getz, Herbie Hancock) and Ottawa's Billy Robinson (Archie Schepp, Charles Mingus).  The session was engineered by Inaam Haq with Alex Bonenfant assisting.

Cheap Suits  

Cheap Suits have completed tracking their new album "One Giant Leap" with Mitch "King Kong" Girio producing, Richard G. Benoit engineering and Alex Bonenfant assisting.

Richard has also received a 6 x Platinum CRIA award for his work on Much Music's Big Shiny Tunes #5.

Gavin Bradley

Gavin enlisted the services of Richard G. Benoit to mix 'Love Song 1969' for LeftHook Entertainment.  Assisted by Alex Bonenfant, the session was overseen by executive producer James McCollum (Philosopher Kings, Prozzak).

David Usher

Producer, engineer and mixer Richard G. Benoit recently finished tracking drums for David Usher's 2005 release on Maple Records.

Troy Feener (The Full Nine, Tom Cochrane) was behind the kit. The tracks were produced by Usher and bass player/songwriter Jeff Pearce (Rye, Moist). Richard was assisted by senior staff engineer Inaam Haq and Sierra Negri.

Richard and Troy also completed bed tracks for five new songs by producer/songwriter Russell Gray.

Richard G. Benoit mixes onlyforward (Kindling/EMI)

In the first session for Cherry Beach Sound's new Control Room A, producer, engineer and mixer Richard G. Benoit (The Full Nine, Aimee Mann, Molly Johnson, Red Hot Chili Peppers) mixed the debut album for Kindling/EMI artist onlyforward.

"The new room is translating as good as—if not better than—any other room in Toronto," says Richard.

onlyforward's Everything's Perfect was released by Kindling/EMI on November 28th, 2004. The recording was produced By Mitch "King Kong" Girio and mixed by Richard G. Benoit for Matrix Entertainment.

Boomtang Boys and Colette Baron-Reid

EMI recording artist Colette Baron-Reid came in with the Boomtang Boys to master her album Coming Home with mastering engineer Nick Rawson. The album features a lush mix of electronic and Celtic stylings courtesy of the Boomtangs.

Former 'NSYNC JC Chasez tracks mastered at Cherry Beach Sound

Mastering for tracks by former N'Sync artist JC Chasez' solo release, Scizophrenic for Jive Records, was carried out at Cherry Beach, by longtime Jive Records producer Alex Greggs with T.O. mastering whiz Nick Rawson.

Keshia Chanté new single "Bad Boy"

Keshia Chanté is a new up and coming R&B artist from Ottawa, signed to ViK recordings/BMG Canada. Her single "Bad Boy" was mastered by Nick Rawson at Cherry Beach Sound. In attendance was Ivan Berry, head of A&R for BMG Music Canada as well as uomo producer Perry Alexander.

Lance Anderson

Producer Lance Anderson recently released his latest CD, Footwork. This album features the rocking duo of Lance on Hammond B3 organ and drummer Mike Sloski, with special guests George Oliver and Steven Ambrose.

Jimmy Cobb with Mark Eisenman Trio

Pianist Mark Eisenman and  bassist Pat Collins teamed up with drummer and jazz legend Jimmy Cobb (Miles Davis' Kind of Blue) for a trio recording at Cherry Beach Sound.  Jimmy Cobb was in town as part of the recent International Association of Jazz Educators (IAJE) conference.  Barry Elmes produced, with John Sumner in attendance.  Everyone was excited to hear and see the legendary Mr. Cobbs in action.

Cameo Blues Band

Produced by Lance Anderson at Cherry Beach Sound for his Make It Real records label, the Cameo release All Play and No Work was showcased at the Silver Dollar in Toronto.  The event was well received by many musical luminaries including Rod Philips, Domenic Troiano, Bucky Berger, Gary Kendall, Virgil Scott, Pete Traynor, Gord James CHUM, Eddy B., John Valentyne TBS and others.

Garth Hudson

Legendary keyboard master of The Band Garth Hudson was at Cherry Beach Sound for a few days working on several projects with producer Lance Anderson. 

Garth was recently re-united with Scott (Professor Piano) Cushnie. Scott was the original piano player in Ronnie Hawkins' band who brought Robbie Robertson into the Hawks. Talk about nostalgia, we’re going back circa 1958! So here are two rock n' roll pioneers brought together again, to play some old standards. 

It was a special few days at Cherry Beach Sound, as Garth lived up to his reputation as one of the world's most original and gifted keyboard men.

All sessions were engineered by world-renowned engineer Nick Blagona and assisted by resident engineer Inaam Haq.

Not By Choice

Recorded at Cherry Beach Sound with producer/engineer John Whynot (Big Wreck, Blue Rodeo), Ajax band Not By Choice's debut album Maybe One Day was released to critical acclaim. The first single 'Standing All Alone' garnered Top 10 radio status, and heavy rotation on Muchmusic. The guys have toured with Sum 41, and received North By Northeast's pick for Favourite New Indie Release.

Commercial and Audio Post Production

Grey Worldwide, with Imprint Music, recently used our facility for a 15 second television spot for Mr. Clean (Proctor and Gamble).

Kids' summer destination Muskoka Woods completed a CD project as well as radio spots with Doug Agency.

Matrix Entertainment came in for sound design and mix of their 15 spot for Gilette.

Cineflix enlisted the services of Cherry Beach Sound for a National Geographic documentary entitled '10 Days to Victory' to be released internationally for the 60th anniversary of the end of the Second World War.

Cherry Beach Rehearsal

The legendary Chick Corea recently spent an evening at Cherry Beach rehearsing and keyboard programming, in preparation for his Massey Hall show.
