David Byrne and Thom Yorke on the Fall and Rise of Music

Sitting around with some friends last night, the ‘current state of music’ became our topic of conversation for a bit. Apparently the latest issue of Wired magazine has a couple of articles on exactly that topic. David Byrne interviews Thom Yorke of Radiohead where they discuss the free internet pre-release of In Rainbows, and contributes an article on new business models for the music industry. Recommended reading.

Daft Punk, the French electronic music duo, recently produced a movie called Electroma. With no dialog, extended outdoor scenes and more than a little existentialism, the journey of two robots who desire to become human provides for some touching emotional moments, highlighted by the music that Daft Punk has chosen. Not for everyone, but enjoyable for those who are willing to try something different.
